Air pollution isn't just bad for your lungs, but it can be bad for your heart, too, according to a recent study.

A recent University of Michigan study found air pollution has a direct negative impact on blood pressure and can trigger cardiovascular events, like heart attacks, in people with cardiovascular disease.

The study was published in the journal Hypertension.

If you'd like to read more, Time put out a story about the study’s findings regarding air pollution and the cardiovascular system.

The University of Michigan also put out a video with suggestions of what individuals can do with the study’s findings, including a recommendation to avoid outdoor exercise during rush hour or areas of heavy traffic.
