All lanes of I-94 to be closed briefly at State Street in Ann Arbor for utility work Saturday morning

By AnnArbor.com Staff

All lanes of I-94 at the State Street interchange on the south side of Ann Arbor will be closed for about 10 minutes Saturday between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. for work crews to string a utility wire, the Michigan Department of Transportation said.

The freeway will be closed between mile markers 178 and 179. The closure is expected about 7:15 a.m. but could come anytime during the one-hour window.

What they need to do is close it long enough to get the Stone School bridge torn out so they can start building a new one with more space for extra lanes. Why a cross country interstate loses lanes heading into the largest city in Washtenaw county baffles me.

I wonder if traffic will get backed up, all the way to Chelsea?

They should stop all traffic in town that day and have a parade for Our King.
