What he told us:
• Says his candidacy is about restoring the public trust.
• Criticizes Greden for sending e-mails to other council members during city meetings. Says it's too late to apologize, and he's worried future e-mails could be a distraction from city business.
• Says he has the experience, perspective, and fortitude necessary to provide effective representation and advocacy on behalf of all 3rd Ward residents. Says he has a proven record of honor and integrity serving on the City Council.
• Supports the adoption of a code of ethics that sets high standards of integrity to the position of council member.
• Says that when city council members voted to change the zoning at the southeast corner of South University and South Forest in 2005, they impressed upon the public that eight-story buildings would be the norm.
• Supports rezoning the South University area under the A2D2 plan as a D2 restricted zone. Says the City Council has misled the neighborhood.
• Opposes city income tax. Doesn't believe city's feasibility study and says it would give tax breaks to corporations at the expense of working class families.
• Supports maintaining Argo Dam until it is has reached its useful life. Says the contractor who constructed the dam in the early 1970s says it’s still in good shape.
• Has more than 20 years of public sector employment experience.
• Ann Arbor planning commissioner from 2004 to 2006 and environmental commissioner from 2005 to 2006.
• Wants to help Ann Arbor out of the worst economic times in modern history. Would direct staff to concentrate on neighborhoods and infrastructure needs, instead of just focusing on downtown.
