Ann Arbor library board votes to change election schedule

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Ann Arbor District Library board members voted Monday to move the biennial elections for trustees from May to November.

Library trustee elections have traditionally been held in May of every even-numbered year. Monday night’s resolution retains the election year cycle, but changes the month from May to November.

Trustees, elected to 4-year terms, would then begin their service the following January instead of the traditional July start date.

Library district trustee elections have been held at the same time as elections for the Ann Arbor school board. Since the school board voted earlier this to change the school election dates from May to November, the library board followed suit.
