Ann Arbor Police are investigating the armed robbery of an Ann Arbor man at Mary Beth Doyle Park about 11:40 a.m. Saturday.

Ann Arbor Police Lt. Mark St. Amour said the man was robbed at gunpoint while in the park, at 2819 Packard Road, of cash and a cell phone. St. Amour said the man was walking and the suspects approached him on foot. Both suspects are thought to be in their teens or early 20s.

I actually was at the park the day this occurred playing disc golf. The individual who was robbed used my friends cell phone to call 911. I would say the frustrating thing is the 911 operator had no clue where Mary Beth Doyle park or Brown park as it use to be known was located and that delayed in the response time of the police. As someone who frequents the park to play a round or two of disc golf a follow up to this story would be nice.

Even with increased foot patrol (and at this location I find that unlikely to happen) what are the odds that tey will be there right when you need them? "when seconds count, the police are only minutes away." YOU are always going to be the first responder to YOUR critical incident. 1*

These armed robberies in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti are getting out of hand. More AAPD foot patrols around town would definitely help.

@Ricebburner No way to know if it was guys from the in depth description provided. Could be women...equal opportunity. I would be better prepared with a description. Ms. Lockwood, did AAPD provide anything else?
