Ann Arbor man suspected in Saline safe robbery arrested on bench warrant in Pittsfield Township

By Kyle Feldscher

An Ann Arbor man charged with home invasion and unarmed robbery was arrested this weekend in Pittsfield Township on a bench warrant, according to police.

Josh Morris, 19, was arraigned Monday afternoon at the Washtenaw County Jail on at least one charge, according to jail officials. Morris is going through court proceedings for allegedly breaking into a Saline apartment to steal a safe in November 2010.

Morris is being held on a $5,000 bond on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol and a $352 cash bond on a charge of refused correction training fee, according to jail records.

Police say Andrew Wszolek let Morris into an acquaintance’s apartment on Nov. 5, 2010, on the 800 block of Valley Circle Drive. Morris allegedly held the acquaintance down while Wzsolek and another intruder ripped a bolted safe from the wall, police say.

Morris was originally arrested in December at his parents’ home in Ann Arbor by Washtenaw County sheriff’s investigators, who assisted Saline police with the case. He faces two charges of first-degree home invasion, one charge of safebreaking and one charge of unarmed robbery.

If convicted on the home invasion charges, Morris faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Safebreaking carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. Unarmed robbery carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

Morris’ next scheduled court appearance in front of Judge Archie Brown is at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Washtenaw County Trial Court, when he is due for a final pretrial hearing.
