Ann Arbor police arrest suspect in series of car break-ins
A man suspected in a series of of car break-ins near the University of Michigan Central Campus was arrested after a short foot chase early today, Ann Arbor police said.
Police were called to Forest Avenue at about 4:30 a.m. after someone heard glass breaking. Officers said they saw a man running from the area, and they gave chase.
The man was caught in the 1000 block of State Street. He had property from several vehicles in his possession, and he was arrested, officers said.
Police said the man is suspected in a series of overnight car break-ins near the campus area. The man, who is in his late-20s, has a history of similar crimes, police said.
The man is being held at the Washtenaw County Jail pending arraignment.

due to overcrowding in the area jails/prisons, the alleged perp will likely be back out on the street in no time. His crimes are not violent or severe enough. Why even bother arresting him... Our system sucks.

Is any one surprised that he " has a history of similar crimes"? Would anyone want to guess which judge he has gone before in the past? Not politically correct to suggest a punishment?
