Ann Arbor police trying to identify party store burglar

Ann Arbor police are attempting to identify this man.
Ann Arbor police released surveillance photos today of a thief who smashed the front door of a party store in the city Sunday and stole large quantities of liquor, cigarettes, lottery tickets, cash and other items.
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the man's arrest and conviction.
The break-in occurred between 4 and 6 a.m. Sunday at Chiparus Party Shoppe at 3240 Packard St.

This photo shows the thief in the store.
Detective Michael Lencioni said the man spent a significant amount of time in the store and made several trips to steal the items. Police believe he acted alone.
The man was described as white, 50 to 60 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a medium build.
Anyone who recognizes the man or has information on the theft is asked to call Det. Lencioni at 734-794-6930, ext. 49317, the tip line at 734-794-6939 or by e-mail at TIPS@a2gov.org.

I'm fairly sure I've seen him around downtown area too. I'm sure I've seen him dragging his bundles around with him in town. Police need to look at the homeless shelter and one the streets to find this guy.

It occurs to me that stealing liquor, cigarettes, and lottery tickets is what one would steal from a party store, homeless or not. Those would be the "big ticket items" in a party store for any thief.

Stealing liquor and cigarettes, lottery tickets? It leans towards a homeless man and yes he looks like the guy that was peddling on State St. and Liberty this summer.

this is a joke coming. please don't take it down. and I support the man -- but tell me it doesn;t look like jim leyland in the single shot where he's looking up. But he's down in Indi trading away the face of the Tiger's franchise, so he has an alibi.

If he is someone who stands on the ramps, maybe he did this because he wants to be caught. He may have seen the temp predictions for the next few days???

How do we know anything about the alarm from this stroy? Perhaps the police did not respond in time to catch the individual in the act. Pure speculation.

Oh no! The store owners are such nice people, they seem to work very hard and are always friendly. Not to mention this is right around the corner from my house. I hope they catch this guy soon.
