Ann Arbor police searching for missing 29-year-old woman
Updated story: Missing Ann Arbor woman and her dog located unharmed, police say
Ann Arbor police are looking for a 29-year-old Ann Arbor woman reported missing on Monday, Det. Bill Stanford said.
Kimberly Lynn Ausmus was last seen by her mother in Ann Arbor on Oct. 13 and hasn't made contact with relatives since, Stanford said.

"It's highly unusual for her to break off all contact and disappear," Stanford said.
But there's no indication of foul play at this point, Stanford said.
The last time Ausmus was seen by her mother, she was driving a 2001 black Volkswagen Jetta with Michigan license plate CBY4032. She had her Great Dane "Pluto" with her, Stanford said.
Ausmus lives alone and was between jobs, Stanford said. She has never been reported missing before, Stanford said.
Investigators have been to her home, and nothing indicates that Ausmus packed any clothes or other items to travel, police said. She is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 135 pounds.
Anyone with information can call Stanford at (734) 794-6930, ext. 49318 or the police department's tip line at (734) 794-6939.

There has to be more to this story...I pray it has a happy ending. I hope she is well and finds her self in a position to call her loved ones and tell them she is alright soon.

If you look at the bottom of the story there is a link to the wanted poster where there is a photo of the dog and the car.

"It's highly unusual for her to break off all contact and disappear," Stanford said. But there's no indication of foul play at this point, Stanford said I see nothing in these statements that indicates they are not investigating the possibility of foul play. To me it just means they have nothing concrete that would indicate foul play. Hopefully that is not the case and she will return home safely.

Thanks for the additional info Rito. Reason I asked is because I have a dog that I take to various places to hike, walk or play. Sometimes us 'doggie parents' pay as much attention and notice other people's 'kids' as we do people. And her being with a fairly good sized dog would probably make her stand out. I do hope she's okay. Not sure if this will help or not - you may want to check with various animal shelters and check their 'lost and found' pets. If she did have her dog out with her and he got loose someone may have found him and notified a shelter or posted a 'found ad' (craigslist Ann Arbor is a good on to check - the people in this area are pretty good about posting animals they have found).

I happen to know some members of the family involved, and so here are a few more informations: It seems that she was last seen at her appartment on Liberty street near eberwhite woods in Ann Arbor. Both her and her great dane, "Pluto", were last seen by neighbours on the evening of her disapearance. The dog is a quite stocky but not extremely tall great dane, black with a distinctive white marking on the face, as well as on the paws and tip of the tail. His ears are not cropped, and he's almost 2 and a half. I can vouch that he is the nicest, sweetest dog of all, and may not be particularly frightening. I am not sure if they had gone recently to any particular dog park. Her car, a black, 1.8T stickshift 2001 Jetta with some damage to the front end in front of the right wheel well, is also missing. She has never stayed completely out of touch for so long, 16 days, and so we all hope that she's safe and in no danger.

I'm no detective but I have 3 daughters in their mid to late 20's. With all due respect to the detective as a father I can see several alarming signs of foul play. I just highlighted them above. In my opinion the detective should assume some sort of foul play until anything indicates otherwise. When a young woman with no history of disappearing suddenly disappears for 5 days thats not a good thing detective.

Does she have Facebook? If so, does her status say where she is?

I agree with Robyn, more info needed. Where was she last seen? Where does she live? If we knew this, we would be more watchful in those areas. I suppose by now the police have some ideas based on ATM and credit card use. You can only drive so far without having to refuel, eat, etc.

A Great Dane named 'Pluto,' shouldn't be hard to spot

It would be nice if more information was given. She has a rather large dog - were there dog parks or places she frequented with the dog? I hope there will be a good outcome to this story. I imagine her family and friends are just beside themselves with worry.

Is the dog missing, too?
