Ann Arbor woman reports being assaulted in Northfield Township on date with man she met online

A 44-year-old Ann Arbor woman told police she was assaulted while on a date with a 46-year-old Northfield Township man she met through an online dating service, according to Northfield Township police.
The alleged incident occurred Jan. 12 at a residence in the 100 block of East Shore Drive, Lt. Tim Greene said.
Greene would not comment on the nature of the assault, but said the victim is OK and did not require hospitalization.
Greene would not provide further details, saying the investigation is ongoing.

Good advice, loves_fall. I'm glad you were not harmed, but it's always good to take precautions, regardless of one's age. I like the new format too.

I had a similar unpleasant experience with a guy I met once. He seemed nice and actually knew some of my friends from back home so I assumed he was all right. He offered to pick me up for dinner downtown and I accepted. Next thing you know we're in the middle of nowhere outside of town without cell coverage and I'm learning things about him I had no interest in ever knowing. Unfortunately for me, he was also my ride home, and since I didn't have any means to communicate and had no idea where I was, I was pretty much at his mercy. Lesson learned: even if you think a person is trustworthy, ALWAYS meet somewhere public, be your own ride, and make sure people know where you're going and when you'll be back. It's a scary world out there (even for 40somethings).

Such a pretty area to drive through, both during the summer and winter; it's saddening that assaults do happen even in such a place with plenty of houses right next to each other.
