Ann Arbor's League of Women Voters to host series of candidate debates in July

The League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area will be hosting a series of candidate debates leading up to the Aug. 3 primary.

CTN television will be taping the debates at its studio. The replay schedule will be available after the forums are taped.

Proposed questions for candidates should be submitted via the LWV's website by July 1.

Here's the debate schedule:

Tuesday July 6 7-7:30 p.m. 53rd District State House Race (incumbent not running) Jeff Irwin (D) Ned Staebler (D)

Wednesday July 7 7-7:30 p.m. 18th District State Senate Race (incumbent not running) John Hochstetler (R) Gary Wellings (R)

8-8:40PM 18th District State Senate Race (incumbent not running) Pam Byrnes (D) Thomas Partridge (D) Rebekah Warren (D)

Monday July 12 7-7:30 p.m. Ann Arbor Mayoral Race John Hieftje (D-incumbent) Patricia Lesko (D)

8-9 p.m. Ann Arbor City Council Races, Wards 1, 4, and 5 Sandi Smith (D-1st Ward, incumbent) Sumi Kailasapathy (D-1st Ward) Margie Teall (D-4th Ward, incumbent) Jack Eaton (D-4th Ward) Lou Glorie (D-5th Ward) Carsten Hohnke (D-5th Ward, incumbent)

@Robert M. I appreciate your interest. I'll let you know I have spent several weeks asking tough questions of all of the candidates for mayor and city council. Their answers will be the subject of a series of stories, which we will be rolling out in the coming weeks. Stay tuned. @Mitch The CTN studio is located at 2805 S. Industrial Highway. There is limited seating if you want to attend. There also will be complete coverage on AnnArbor.com by the next morning after each debate.
