Another candidate has entered the race for the state House of Representatives in the 52nd District, which includes parts of Ann Arbor and 13 local townships.
Ann Arbor area attorney Christine Green announced today that she's contending for the seat being vacated by Pam Byrnes when she runs for the state Senate.
Another candidate thus far is Washtenaw County Commissioner Mark Ouimet, while county commissioner Ken Schwartz and Saline Mayor Gretchen Driskell also have been named as possibilities.

Ouimet is a Republican, while Green is a Democrat. The seat will be up in the August primary election.
Green, a 25-year attorney, said in a press release today that she's fought for the civil rights of women and minorities in employment, devoted her efforts to protecting the environment and provided services to disadvantaged and vulnerable citizens.
Green was elected to the Scio Township Board of Trustees in 2008 and also served for several years on the Scio Township Planning Commission.
If elected, Green pledged to work toward creating a new economy for Michigan, jobs for the state’s workers, and new opportunities for Michigan farmers. Green will also work to restore Michigan’s ailing educational system and will continue to support efforts for broad-based health care, she said in the release.
"In reaching these goals, I pledge to protect our unmatched water, forest, and land resources which make Michigan a unique place to live and work," she said in the release.
The 52nd District covers much of western Washtenaw County. Byrnes is not eligible for re-election.
