Associated Press: Barbara McQuade nominated as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan

President Barack Obama has nominated Barbara L. McQuade to succeed Stephen J. Murphy III as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.

McQuade graduated from the University of Michigan in 1987 and the University of Michigan School of Law in 1991.

The 44-year-old McQuade has been an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Detroit-based Eastern District since 1998. Her nomination for a four-year term has been submitted to the U.S. Senate.

McQuade was an associate attorney at Butzel Long, P.C., from 1993 to 1998 after serving two years as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Bernard A. Friedman.

Terrence G. Berg has served as acting U.S. Attorney since August 2008, when Murphy became a judge for the Eastern District.
