Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has announced a savings program that would offer a discount to members who purchase certain health-related products and services.

Healthy Blue Xtras is a savings program meant to offer dicounts to Blue Cross members to encourage healthy behaviors. The program offers discounts among certain Michigan-based businesses.

Participating businesses include American Home Fitness, Dunham's Sports, Edible Arrangements and Moosejaw Mountaineering, among others.

The program also includes the Blue365, a national savings program that offers discounts with businesses like Curves, Jenny Craig, Reebook, Snap Fitness and Gold's Gym, among others.

Free dental services for kids

Oral health services, including cleanings and simple fillings, will be available for free to local children on Saturday at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Provided by Michigan dental and dental hygiene students, it will be available to the first 100 kids at the dental school, 1011 N. University Ave in Ann Arbor. Registration is first-come, first-served and opens at 9 a.m. Saturday. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Services will include a free oral health kit for kids, toothbrush, toothpaste, flood and dental health information. Free parking will be available on the upper level parking off Fletcher Street.

Ypsilanti HIV group gets funds

The HIV/AIDS Resource Center in Ypsilanti is one of several organizations around the state receiving a portion of $2.5 million in funds supporting targeted HIV prevention services.

The resource center will received more than $150,000 as one of 17 different non-profit organizations to provide the services. Services funded include HIV counseling, testing and referral, education, counseling and community level interventions to change norms around HIV risk behaviors.
