While breaking up fight, Ypsilanti police solve burglary case
Ypsilanti police said officers who responded to a report of males fighting on First Court solved a burglary case that was reported earlier at a Second Street home.
A caller reported the fight in progress around 3:00 p.m., saying most of the participants were familiar from the neighborhood, according to a press release and a police log.
When questioned by officers, a 19-year-old man involved in the fight reportedly confessed to the break-in and turned over jewelry he had taken, according to police. He implicated two other companions as accomplices. The three were placed under arrest.
A resident of the Second Street home had returned home around 12.30 p.m. and found the back door open and a window broken.
Two flatscreen TVs, a pair of video consoles, games, jewelry and cash were reported missing from the residence. The suspects led police to a house on the 200 block of Ballard, where many of the stolen items were recovered.
Three other males at the house were arrested for possessing stolen property.
All admitted involvement in the episode, according to reports.
Another male was being sought in relation to the burglary.
Three adults aged 18 and 19 were taken to the Washtenaw County jail. Three juveniles aged 16, 15 and 14 were released to their parents’ custody pending charges.

Why wont ypsi housing hire security gaurds to patrol. Pakview apt.(perry school apt.) have armed gaurds and nobody hangs out, no robberies, no drugs. It works. Same needed on 1st court. Really dont need police, catch one and they tell on everybody. not really harden criminals. victims of crack parents.
