Busch's recalling handmade food items due to possible contamination

By Cole Bertsos

Busch's Fresh Food Market announced Wednesday it will have a voluntary recall of handmade foods, according to a report on the Dexter Patch.

The store was concerned that foods from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3 in stores in Dexter and surrounding areas might have contained small pieces of blue plastic, the story said. No injuries or illness were reported.

The store said it's unlikely the food was contaminated.

Pieces of blue plastic are not considered contamination?

I know how some say that your food should be colorful to get a wide variety of nutrients. I don't know if any prepared salads contain red cabbage that has been boiled so that it turns blue; I discovered that happens when I substituted red cabbage for green cabbage in a rice recipe.

No? Then they must be added to make the product colorful.

I've had to return ground nova that had with spots of mold in it. Overall the Bush's deli, the 'Leon' recipe's, are boring at best and neglected at worst.

You mean expensive salmon when you say, "nova"? I bought swai this week at Busch's. It was frozen at the store. The "nova" I've seen at fish departments, regardless of the grocery chain, is never frozen. I know how store employees will refuse to take back something you bought by mistake, if there's nothing wrong with it.

This sounded familiar so I did a web search and it turns out there was a recall of dog food with blue plastic bits in it last June. http://www.annarbor.com/pets/mars-pedigree-dog-food-pets-canned-blue-plastic-choking-hazard-recall/
