A patient at a Pittsfield Township medical office was injured this morning when a car smashed through the building's two front windows and into an examination room at the intersection of Golfside Drive and Clark Road, police and fire officials said.
Pittsfield Fire Commander Sean Gleason said the man, a 72-year-old Belleville resident, was treated at the scene for minor injuries after being hit by debris in the examination room.
The driver of the car was not hurt in the accident, which happened at about 10:40 a.m. at the Michigan SportsMedicine offices, Gleason said.
Pittsfield Township Police Lt. Brandon Williams said the 50-year-old Ypsilanti man driving the car was in the parking lot and had backed up in preparation for leaving the lot, but "somehow the car surged straight ahead instead of turning."
Officers at the scene were looking into whether some mechanical failure might have caused the man's Ford Fusion to crash, he said.

Yesterday, I heard about a recall of the Toyota Prius. What I recall is that the steering wheel has some bolts holding it onto the steering column. These bolts are in danger of coming loose, leaving steering L or R, I don't recall which, (for some reason one direction is affected more than the other) less effective. Honor those recalls.

Apparently someone didn't want to sit in the waiting room with everyone else and decided to go right into the exam room instead. Luckily no one was hurt by this rush to the front of the line.

correction...the car went through the side of the office, into a patient exam room where a patient was...luckily no one was seriously injured...

I think we all can agree the domestics are putting out a product that is competing with foreign automakers in looks and quality. If I had to place it as a Ford product I would go with the Lincoln MKZ, at least I think that is the sedan model. Is the Fusion the Ford equivaIent of the Lincoln model? I might add, I have removed all of the egg from my face.

I stand corrected about the location of the Fusion's gas cap. The car in the picture most likely is a Fusion.

Can't be a Fusion since they do not have a round gas cap cover on the driver's side. It's more square-ish and on the passenger side.

I'll have to take A2.com at their word n this one. Impressive that it climbed the stones and embankment.

The roof line looks like a Camry, I thought the Fusions was a little more pronounced, but maybe the newer model has a softer angle. It is hard to tell with the gentleman standing in the back, can't see the rims well enough either to discern the make form them. Toyota does have a recent history of accelerator/ floor mat problems.

Based on the picture provide the vehicle had to have a significant amount of speed to make it that far. As a friendly reminder, Brake pedal is on the LEFT and the Throttle is on the RIGHT! As always (R) stands for Reverse, as in backwards, and (D) stands for Drive, as in forwards. Maybe they should make the drivers test a tad harder.

I dont know what happened with this accident, I do know that lots of people cut through this parking lot at a high rate of speed to try and dodge the light at Clark and Golfside.
