Car fire extinguished on I-94 in Pittsfield Township
Pittsfield Township firefighters quickly extinguished a car fire this morning on eastbound I-94, Fire Cmdr. Sean Gleason said.
No one was injured in the fire, which started about 9:40 a.m. west of Michigan Avenue, Gleason said.
The fire appears to have started because of mechanical problems, Gleason said. Six firefighters responded and put out the blaze in about five minutes.

Ah, that fine GM quality! Sure was worth my tax dollars to save 'em!

Saw a similar car fire on Friday the 13th on Ellsworth east of Carpenter near the fire station around 5:30 p.m. but never saw it reported in Ann Arbor.com--maybe because no one took a picture of it? That one was totally engulfed in flame with the interior fully involved. Could not get close enough to see what make it was.

Sounds like someones hearing device was off or the radio playing too loudly if they did not hear a piston rod having issues. Man once those things go? The engine is blown. Good to know the driver is safe and I for one will never buy a cadillac. Now 4X4's on the other hand....

I don't have a link, but I worked right by the GM Tech Center in Warren, and I saw a 2010 SRX on my way back to Ann Arbor leaking oil and smoking pretty bad (funny thing, the one I saw was black too). Might be a problem.

It looks like a "newer"(relative term) car. I wonder what caused the fire?
