Carpenter Road lane closures expected to last through Friday

By Lisa Allmendinger

The Pittsfield Township Utilities Department began imposing lane closures today on Carpenter Road between Washtenaw Avenue and Central for water main and road repairs.

A minimum of one lane in each direction will be maintained, and delays should be expected during construction. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes, according to information from the Washtenaw County Road Commission.

It is anticipated that the lane restrictions will be removed by Friday, however, because of weather conditions, all dates are tentative and subject to change.

When I saw the water gushing from a crack in the pavement near the gas station at Washtenaw I knew they'd have to dig it up to fix it. Hopefully the planned repaving of Carpenter from Packard to Washtenaw does get budget cut and actually happens next year. I daon't want any more bent rims.

There are sections of Carpenter that are so bad, it's amazing they haven't been taken care of sooner. This is actually pretty exciting news, from my standpoint!
