Cause of Saline home fire under investigation

By Sven Gustafson

Saline firefighters extinguished a blaze that left a single-family home uninhabitable on Sunday but caused no injuries.

Saline Area Fire Lt. Kevin Cornell said the department received a call around noon reporting a fire at a home on the 1300 block of Judd Road, near Moon Road.

“The damage was confined on the outside, the east side of the house, the kitchen area and there was extensive smoke damage,” Cornell said.

One of the home’s residents, a man, was home at the time of the fire, Cornell said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 10 minutes, he said.

The Washtenaw-Lenawee Chapter of the American Red Cross said it assisted six people who were displaced by the fire with food, clothing and lodging.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
