Central Academy held its 2011 graduation ceremonies Thursday, June 9 at Washtenaw Community College in the Morris Lawrence Building. The class included 24 graduates.

Mishka Sajjadi

Parents: Maryam Shahipour

Activities and Awards: Mishka was on the Golden Honor Roll throughout high school. She is a member of the YCAT Red Cross Washtenaw Division and volunteered at the VA Hospital. Mishka was a participant in the Michigan Math and Science Scholarship program at the University of Michigan as well as the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. She was a part of her high school cross country team and was a yearbook photographer.

Plans after graduation: Mishka plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall and study pre-medicine.

Sami Shalabi

Parents: Luay and Nahla Shalabi

Activities and Awards: Sami has played varsity basketball for four years. He was captain for his junior and senior year. Sami also led Washtenaw County in scoring his last two seasons. This season he received the class D all state special mention award for basketball. Sami has attended the Summer Science Academy at the University of Michigan and the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington D.C. Throughout his high school career, Sami has volunteered at the University of Michigan Dental School and other various organizations.

Plans after graduation: Sami will attend the University of Michigan where he will pursue a career in dentistry.
