Chelsea city offices will be open later on Tuesdays, close earlier other days
City offices in Chelsea will be staying open an hour longer on Tuesdays but closing an hour earlier than they currently do the rest of the week. The offices will also be open over the lunch hour.
The Chelsea City Council approved the new office hours Tuesday.
The offices will now be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
To cover the lunch hour, employees will reduce their lunch periods to 30 minutes and stagger them.
“The current hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but there were a lot of people who couldn’t make it in by 5,” said Teresa Royal, city clerk. She said that since she has to stay late for City Council meetings on Tuesdays, it made sense to leave the offices open until 6 p.m. on Tuesdays.
