Chelsea First Steering Committee hires firm to develop brand, logo
The Chelsea First Steering Committee has selected Pryor Design Company of Ann Arbor to create a logo and brand for the City of Chelsea, the organization announced today.
Chelsea First is an independent group working under the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce and funded by the city and the Chelsea Downtown Development Authority to create a marketing plan for the city.
Scott Pryor is president of Pryor Design and a Chelsea native, the organization said in a press release. Pat Cleary, chairman of the Chelsea First Committee said Pryor and the committee are finalizing the design for a new logo.
Scott really understands Chelsea's assets having grown up here, and his creativity and energy is a fresh perspective that we all wanted," Cleary said.
The press release also said that Dania Dunlap-Hurden, Marketing Director for Chelsea First, is working with Tanner Friedman, a Farmington Hills to develop a marketing plan that will include Internet, social media and print strategies.

This committee has been working on this since January and we are now getting a logo. What? Initially, this program was sold to the business owners as a way to attract customers to downtown. It is now something totally different. Talk about mission creep! The latest (and only) memo that the Chairman sent to the business owners: "We are working very hard, decisions have been made, you will not like them but really, we are working very hard." On the upside, no tax moneys were used for this. Oops, my bad. $25, 000 from the city and $25,000 from the DDA. Can someone please educate us on the purpose of the DDA? We thought it was for the Development of the Downtown Business Area.
