Chelsea Senior Center to offer low-cost gardening classes
Master gardener Charlene Harris will teach people how to create a small intensive vegetable and flower garden May 3 as part of a new gardening series sponsored by the Chelsea Senior Center.
Participants will learn about four-foot-square garden spaces and easy-to-make raised beds at the workshop. Harris will also talk about ergonomic strategies for lifelong gardening enjoyment, according to information about the event.
In fact, the Chelsea Senior Center will offer a series of special gardening topics every Tuesday in May at 11 a.m.
On May 10 is easy container herb gardening taught by Rita Hermann and Merrill Crockett of Old Friends Herbs, who will cover planting a container herb garden, as well as harvesting, preserving and using the herbs.
The classes are meant to inspire people of all ages to enjoy gardening, according to organizers. Fees are $1 per class for members and $2 per class for nonmembers.
