No major road work planned for Lima or Sylvan townships this construction season
Residents in Lima Township as well as those in neighboring Sylvan Township, won’t see much road construction work this year, but they will see their gravel roads get two applications of dust control.
Last year in Lima Township, two closed bridges were replaced and reopened when both Lima Center Road and Dancer Road bridges were put back on the grid. But there are still two that remain closed -- the Liberty Road Bridge over Mill Creek and the Klinger Road Bridge.
This year, the township’s nearly 42 miles of certified gravel roads will see dust control at a cost of about $20,350.
However, the township will pay about $10,200 for the work when Washtenaw County Road Commission matching funds are applied.
In Sylvan Township, dust control, or “brine” will be placed on all 28 miles of certified gravel roads at a total cost of about $20,500, but when Road Commission matching funds are applied, those costs are reduced to about $10,300.
