Police: Man arrested for drunken driving assaulted police officer at hospital
A 47-year-old Chelsea man is accused of assaulting a police officer after he was taken to the hospital due to the amount of alcohol he had consumed, according to a report in the Chelsea Standard.
According to the report, the man was arrested for drunken driving Thursday evening and was transported to Chelsea Community Hospital for treatment due to his high blood alcohol level. At 12:15 a.m. Friday, police were called to the hospital because the man was acting out, according to the report.
When police arrived, the man assaulted an officer and had to be restrained for medical treatment. Once he was released from the hospital he was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail, according to the report.

It sounds like he was "super-drunk". I think some doctors, at least, would call treatment for people with high blood/alcohol content "detoxing" them.

Isn't that what Hospital Security is for, I can see the police being called to report the crime but shouldn't hospital security be able to subdue an unruly patient. Then again I've never been to Chelsea Community Hospital, are they not outfitted with a similiar security department as St Josephs or UofM hospitals?
