Chelsea police are asking for information from any residents who may have seen a woman trying to talk her way into another woman’s home this morning.

Police said a woman wearing a shirt with the words “Angels of Mercy” on it knocked on the door of a home in the 6000 block of Sibley Road shortly before 11 a.m. When the resident answered the door, the woman walked onto the enclose breezeway, Chelsea Police Sgt. Mark Pulford said.

She gave the woman who lives at the home a hug and said she had not seen her in a while. The resident asked the woman who she was, and she answered that she was a new neighbor in the area.

The resident asked her to leave, but the woman tried to stay for a visit. She eventually left the area, riding in the passenger seat of a newer model, white SUV-style vehicle, traveling east on Sibley Road, police said. The resident said she could not see the person driving the vehicle.

The resident told police she was not aware of any new neighbors and had not seen the woman before. She told police the woman is white, heavyset and in her 30s.

Pulford said he is not aware of any similar recent incidents in the city.

Anyone with information on this incident or a similar incident is asked to call the Chelsea Police Department at 734-475-9122.
