Sylvan Township to consider extended Sunday alcohol sales

By Lisa Allmendinger

The Sylvan Township Board will consider a change in the township’s Sunday alcohol sales hours at its regular meeting Tuesday night following passage of a new state law that allows Sunday morning liquor sales.

One store would be affected by the change and have the option of selling wine, beer or liquor beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday mornings rather than at noon. The new law allows municipalities to opt out of the change.

The Village of Dexter and the cities of Saline and Ypsilanti have also decided to allow Sunday morning sales.

Also on the agenda are appointments to the township’s Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and Board of Review.

The board will also review its tax hardship exemption policy for township residents.

The Sylvan Township Board meets at 7 p.m. at Sylvan Township Hall, 18027 Old US 12.
