Clydesdale and pony corralled by police on Platt Road
Three Pittsfield Township police officers were faced with one of the more unusual aspects of policing Monday afternoon: Corralling some loose horses.
Gordy Schick, deputy chief of the Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety, said officers were sent to Platt and Bemis roads at about 2 p.m. after receiving a call notifying the department of horses on the lam, walking down Platt.
The Clydesdale and the pony had apparently decided to take a break from the same old scenery on their York Township farm and were going for a walk in the late August sunshine, Schick said.
The officers managed to locate the horses on Platt and safely return them back to their owner, Pittsfield Township resident Anne Rammelkamp, Shick said.
The breed is known for its distinctive look, made famous in Budweiser beer marketing.
Horses on the loose was a new one for Schick, but he said the department has a history of helping owners by corralling escaped animals.
“I can’t recall us having horses running wild, but we’ve had sheep, farmers with sheep, farmers with llamas,” he said. “We’ve got llama breeders in the township and we’ve been called several times to corral llamas.”

To add to all the hub bub, I know there used to be some type of large, grey working horse and I believe a Haflinger living near that corner. I wonder if it was them???

Yep, sure is. Hope there's a very good reason why they decided to hoof it outta there. Ms. Rammelkamp is a well-regarded horse owner, but one has to wonder what is up when horses decide to leave.

Did any one else think maybe the picture wasn't the actual horse n pony that were corralled? Maybe it was just a stock photo and it really was a horse n pony not a mom and it's foal. I love how people jump to conclusions. Nothing in the story says anything such as "pictured here" there's a photo of a Clydesdale mother and baby so you all just assume the story is wrong. Maybe it is, maybe it's not.. Who really cares either way?!

Such a pretty Pony!!!!! Equestrian details don't matter! The animals were returned safely. Just another example of under-appreciated customer service by our public servants.

Yes, who wrote this story? A foal is a baby horse. A pony is one of several breeds of typically small equines that also have foals.

Sorry AA.com, the correct term would be "foal" not pony.......

A pony is not the same as a foal. Clydesdales have babies and ponies have babies, but Clydesdales don't beget ponies.
