Coins stolen, washing machines damaged at Glencoe Hills apartments in Pittsfield Township

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Coin-operated washing machines and dryers were damaged on three occasions at a Pittsfield Township apartment complex last week by a thief or thieves seeking the change inside, police reported.

Between Sept. 14-15, management at Glencoe Hills apartments reported three similar cases.

Management said coins were taken and hoses were cut from several washing machines in a building in the 2200 block of Glencoe Hills Drive on Sept. 14, reports said. The next day, two more reports were received — someone damaged the coin operated laundry machines and cut the hoses in the 2100 block of Glencoe Hills Drive and someone stole coins and damaged machines in the 2100 block of Glencoe Hills Drive.

An estimate of the damage and the amount of change taken was not available today.

Also on Sept. 14, employees at Evergreen Apartments said someone attempted to steal the change from at least six coin-operated washing machines.

It's unclear whether the incidents are related, but police said they're investigating.
