Comcast Foundation gives Neutral Zone $10,000 grant

By Ann Dwyer

Comcast Cable has awarded the Neutral Zone a $10,000 grant to support the Ann Arbor's teen center Students Educating Each other about Diversity program.

The objective of the SEED program is to train high school students to combat discrimination by developing workshops and working with younger students.

Comcast volunteers also went to the Neutral Zone during the recent Comcast Cares Day to work on making over the interior and exterior of the center.

The company said in a statement that the Neutral Zone was chosen because of its focus on youth development by providing education and leadership skills that will prepare youths for the future.

One of Comcast's customer call centers is located in Ann Arbor.

The Neutral Zone was founded in 1998 to give teens in the area a place to go after school and on weekends. It offers several programs and events such as writing and music workshops, art classes and tutoring.

agreed. how about not subscribing to a service and then whining about the agreement. the neutral zone is a wonderful asset to the community and successful corporations should be applauded for their support.

As a student who attends the neutral zone regularly, I'm very happy to hear about this. In response to the below comments, $10,000 divided amongst the many customers would do very little to lower rates. I'm appalled that you would rather pay a few cents less than to help kids have a safe place to go after school, where there are adults who can help with homework, life, and many other things. The neutral zone is a great place for people like me, and if your 3 cents made that happen, then I'm sorry 3 cents makes that much of a difference to you, and thank you. The neutral zone saved my life.

$10,000.00 that's my bill for a year. If CONcast has that kind of money to give away...as 1BlockRadius has said "How about just dropping the rates a little" I would have to say A LOT not a little.
