Community High School Top Scholars

Community High School held its 2012 graduation ceremonies Tuesday, June 5, 7 p.m. at University of Michigan's Horace H. Rackham Auditorium. The class included 117 graduates.

Emma Hughes
Parents: Brad and Janette Hughes
Activities and Awards: Emma was a member of the CHS Ecology Club and National Honor Society, Co-Coach of Angell School's Academic Games Team, National Merit Finalist and National Latin Exam Bronze Medalist.
Plans After Graduation: Emma will attend Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.

Melissa Krienke
Parents: John and Robin Krienke
Activities and Awards: Melissa was active with the National Honor Society and has been a dedicated dancer for 15 years. She played the lead role in Swan Lake this spring, served as representative on the Youth Dance Theater of Michigan's Board of Directors and was a regular volunteer at the Back Door Food Pantry.
Plans After Graduation: Melissa will attend the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Sabrina Kunselman
Parents: Victoria Pebbles and Stephen Kunselman
Activities and Awards: Sabrina has been a member of the National Honor Society, four-year member of Pioneer High's Women's Track and Field team and a volunteer for the Buhr Park Children's Wet Meadow Project.
Plans After Graduation: Sabrina will be attending and running track at Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island.

Sophia Kunselman
Parents: Victoria Pebbles and Stephen Kunselman
Activities and Awards: Sophia has been a member of the National Honor Society, four-year member of Pioneer High's Women's Track, placing in the top 3 in the 100H and 300H during sophomore and junior years.
Plans After Graduation: Sophia will be attending and running track at Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island.






Melanie Langa

Parents: Lucy and Ken Langa
Activities and Awards: Melanie has been Captain of the Huron High Varsity Tennis team, a member of the CHS Ecology Club and an Editor with CHS' award-winning Newspaper, the Communicator. She was awarded the Harold Eastman Outstanding Youth Award, VFW Voice of Democracy 2nd place regional winner and received the Detroit News/CATCH Award for Journalism. In addition, she served on the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association All-State Staff.
Plans After Graduation: Melanie will attend Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.




Carlina Paull-Baird

Parents: Lorrie Paull and Larry Baird
Activities and Awards: Carlina was an active member of Pioneer High School's Choirs and A Cappella group "Soulfege". She has served as Musical Director of PHS Musical Theater, including 5 musicals and 4 Future Stars programs. Carlina has been in the National Honor Society, a volunteer for Fall Chore Days, holiday gift-giving committee and created a public service announcement for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. She was awarded WXYZ's "Brightest and Best" award.
Plans After Graduation: Carlina will attend the University of Michigan/Ann Arbor in the fall.

Parents: David and Kate Share
Activities and Awards: Emma has serviced as Secretary and Co-Chair of the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundations' Youth Council, and has pursued dance at Dance Theater Studio, Swing City and Community High's Dance Body. She was an active leader in CHS' Forum Council and spent a summer in Guatemala with "Where There Be Dragons".
Plans After Graduation: Emma will attend Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
