Monthlong construction on Barton Drive beginning July 22

By Chelsea Hoedl

Westbound traffic on Barton Drive in Ann Arbor between Pontiac Trail and Plymouth will be detoured for construction Monday, July 22 through Aug. 31.

Vehicles will be routed around the closed area by way of Plymouth Road, Moore Street and Pontiac Trail.

Eastbound traffic and local access for vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be maintained. At least one side of the street will be open to pedestrians at all times.

Residents will be notified in advance if access to their driveway will be temporarily affected.

Work on Barton Drive will include repaving of the road to eliminate pot holes and increase the service life of the road. Storm water inlets, some concrete curb and sidewalk ramps will be replaced.

Any updates on this timing? It looks like they are going to have a lot of work to finish in one week....

Since it's westbound that will be closed, I think it would be better to describe it as being between Plymouth Rd. and Pontiac Trail rather than the other way around. As it's written, I was imagining eastbound.

I agree with DJBud, they need to resurface the intersection with Pontiac Trail. But I suspect that dealing with Pontiac Trail itself is on a different timeline... I'm pretty sure our Ward 1 reps have the schedule of road service projects, or can find it. Maybe a start date of July 22 means they'll be done in time for school...

Will through traffic on Traver be maintained?

I hope this work comes down south onto Pontiac Trail at least 60 feet that intersection is terrible. Also, I heard they were not going all the way west on Barton at least to Brede this year with this project which makes no sense, it really needs it.
