Construction work begins on Plymouth Road between Dixboro and M-153

By Kyle Feldscher

Starting today, Plymouth Road between Dixboro Road and M-153 in Superior Township is under construction as new westbound and center left turn lanes are added, according to the county road commission.

Intermittent lane closures will take place on the road, with at least one lane in each direction maintained, according to officials. Delays are expected during construction. Officials did not have an end date for the project Monday afternoon.

Crews are adding a right westbound lane at Dixboro Road and a center left turn lane with a traffic signal at the intersection of Plymouth Road and Cherry Hill Road, officials stated. The entire area will be resurfaced as well.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes and are advised to use caution when driving through the area.

Better be done by September. Going to be fun getting those children to and from school. I knew this was going to happen, bet the people living off that road are none to happy loosing their front yard. What a mess this is going to be.

A bike lane would be nice. This is a major road for cyclists riding between Plymouth and Ann Arbor.

Don't think so. The neighbors living off that road are none to happy loosing their front yard as it is. Ride with the cars or stay off the road. There isn't one on Geddes and glad of it.

It will be nice to be able to turn without holding up traffic.

I hope the traffic can be light for a while. I have seen so many accidents in this area.

This looks like it took some planning to stop traffic! I am surprised that MDOT was smart enough to completely shut down this part of Washtenaw County!

"Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes ..." Like M-14, oh wait. Or how about 23, never mind. Great planning to do all of these at once!
