Crane removal causes road closures next to the University of Michigan Medical Center

By Jessica Kerman

East Medical Center Drive, between East Hospital Drive and Washington Heights, next to the University of Michigan Medical Center complex will be closed tonight through Aug. 22.

Washington Heights will be converted to two-way traffic during that time period to allow access to the Ronald McDonald House, U-M School of Public Health and other U-M facilities.

Also starting tonight, the intersection of East Medical Center Drive and Washington Heights will be closed.

The closure is to allow workers on the U-M Children's and Women's Hospital construction project to take down one of the two construction cranes. Another temporary road closure will take place this fall to take down the second crane.
