Crash on I-94 in Van Buren Township kills one, injures three
Michigan State Police officials say a man is dead and three other people were injured after their vehicle ran off the road in Van Buren Township, flipped multiple times and landed in a ditch.
The single-vehicle crash happened about 2:20 a.m. today on westbound I-94 east of Ypsilanti in Wayne County .
Police said the injured included a 19-year-old woman from Ypsilanti and a 20-year-old woman from Milan.
Police said in a statement that three people were ejected from the Jeep Liberty when it ran off the road. One man was killed when the vehicle landed on him. A female occupant was trapped inside after the crash.
Two people were taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township, and another was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Names of the victims were not released. Police say alcohol may have been a factor, and none of the occupants were wearing seat belts.
