Crashes slowing traffic on M-14 in Ann Arbor area
A pair of crashes on westbound M-14 was slowing the morning commute in the Ann Arbor area Wednesday.
One crash was near Ford Road and was reported to be blocking the left lane. State police were on the way to the crash, a dispatcher said at 8 a.m.
A second crash was reported not far away on the freeway at Vorhies Road, the dispatcher said, but it was not blocking the freeway.
A Google traffic map showed a significant traffic backup in the area. Further information about the crashes was not immediately available.

"Crash" is a term kids use. Whatever happened to the word "accident"?

Actually " Crash " is the proper legal term. http://www.michigan.gov/msp/0,4643,7-123-1593_24055-28578--,00.html

Anyone keeping count of the daily morning crashes on M-14? It would be interesting to see a statistic. It seems that there is at least one crash every weekday morning.

I agree. It seems like I'm constantly seeing M-14 in the news for crashes. I wonder what is going on in that area that appears so dangerous? Is it drivers or the roadways or the exit/entrance ramp location..? I don't know.

The Ford road entrance is somewhat dangerous. If I were to guess how the *left* lane got blocked, I'd say that somebody was traveling in the right lane, saw a merging car, then decided to move over to the left lane w/o looking behind himself first...
