Crash slows afternoon commute on U.S. 23 north of Ann Arbor

By Cindy Heflin

A crash was throwing a wrench into the afternoon commute on U.S. 23 north of Ann Arbor Monday.

The two-car crash was on northbound US. 23 north of North Territorial Road, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County sheriff’s department said. It did not appear to be blocking traffic, she said, but a Google traffic map showed a major traffic backup in the area.

State police had just arrived at the crash about 5:45 p.m. No further information was immediately available.

Traffic slowdowns are shown in red, black and yellow on the map.

It carries a lot of traffic. Per-mile-driven, the accident rate is probably much safer than any two lane highway that you could come up with.
