Crashes snarl traffic on I-94 in Ann Arbor

By Cindy Heflin

Three crashes were making a mess of traffic on Interstate 94 in and west of Ann Arbor Monday afternoon.

There were two crashes on Interstate 94 near the intersection with US-23 on the south side of Ann Arbor, one on either side of the freeway. Both crashes were believed to have involved two vehicles, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County sheriff’s department said.

Police had not yet arrived at the crash in the westbound lanes, the dispatcher said at 4:35 p.m. The other crash was believed to have affected two vehicles.

The third crash was on eastbound 94 near M-14 west of Ann Arbor. State police were on the scene, the dispatcher said.

A Google traffic map showed extensive traffic backups on eastbound 94 in both locations.

Traffic backups are shown in black, red and yellow on the map.

I got a quick look at a car involved in the crash on EB I-94 west of M-14, and it was ugly. I hope the driver is OK, because judging from the condition of the car (front end basically gone), it was a hell of a wreck.

Lights not working. Hi winds and traffic accidents. I am wondering if it was a full moon last nite. Never heard the radio so busy in all my life. Glad to hear no fatalities though.

Had to be the fault of the road commission! No chance it was driver stupidity.

Ya funny how all the bashers of the Road Commission aren't on here anymore, it is only their fault in the winter months..Wonder what the excuse was this time? High winds or gravel on the road? Remember it is not the drivers fault always point the finger at the next guy. Unreal!!

Not sure how people know this but if you have google earth you can click on more and there's a traffic option so you see what traffic is like

State St and Eisenhower were both backed up in all directions, not to mention the construction on State south of 94 which is causing traffic back ups.

No wonder the traffic was so snarled on the South side streets!
