13-year-old robbed of smartphone at gunpoint

By John Counts

A 13-year-old Superior Township boy was held up at gunpoint and robbed of his iPhone Sunday night, police said.

The boy was walking home from a friend's house in the 1800 block of Parklawn in Superior Township just before 10 p.m. when a man approached him and brandished a handgun, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.

The man told the boy to "empty his pockets," Sgt. Geoff Fox said.

The boy put his iPhone on the ground and the man told him to start walking, which he did.

"(The boy) turned around and the suspect was running away," Fox said.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 6 foot to 6 foot 2 inches tall, heavy set with long dreadlocks.

Police continue to investigate.

What coward holds a kid up at gun point?!?!? With that said, these days young kids should not be walking alone at 10 pm, come on parents, get with it!

The boy did the right sense getting shot over an iPhone or anything else for that matter. I hope they catch the crook and lock him up for a long, long time. If they do catch him, how much do you want to bet he's a repeat offender, probably out on parole.
