Three Detroit men face armed robbery charges after police say they assaulted a cab driver in Ypsilanti Township and stole cash and a cellphone.

Samuel Anthony McCray, 17; Richard Quinton Winston, 21; and William Lucas McCray, 22, were each arraigned Friday charges of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit unarmed robbery and unarmed robbery.

According a news release from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of George Place in Ypsilanti Township for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Initial reports indicated that a cab was called to the area and when it arrived three men got in. Once inside, the men reportedly assaulted the driver and stole cash and a cellphone. The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.

Along with the deputies, a sheriff's office K-9 unit responded to the scene. The K-9 track led through the subdivision and eventually to the Harmony House Motel at Michigan Avenue and Ecorse Road. Deputies interviewed people in the area, which led them to a specific room where they made contact with two men. Another man was caught when he attempted to flee the area, according to the release.

The three men were arrested following further investigation.

Samuel McCray and Winston are being held on $250,000 bonds, while William McCray is being held without bond.

The trio's next court date is 8:30 a.m. Jan. 8.

Its amazing when an underaged african american breaks the law his picture gets posted on the site, but if an underaged caucasion boy breaks the law, his picture does not get posted because he is a minor. I think you guys should take the young man's photo off the site

Judging by the picture Richard Winton looks pretty pleased with himself. This is the effect that Detroit has on the rest of south-east Michigan. Parents in Detroit are failing their children far more so than almost any other city in the United States. It is one thing if these thugs wanted to stay in Detroit and kill each other but now they are branching out further and further from their "hoods". Shame on Detroit, the parents of these kids and the entire system that continues to produce young black men who are born into father less homes, a failing school system and single mothers with far too many children and too much dependence on the welfare state. Hopefully with the introduction of an Emergency Manager we can start to see a turn around that will probably take the better part of a century to complete. They can build all of the sports arenas and shopping areas they would like in Detroit but until the people of Detroit decide that this isn't the way to live the life that god has blessed us with, well then this will continue and the stereotypes that come a long with it will continue to be justified.

A2 has had a lot of burglaries lately. Guess A2 needs to raise the rent some more. I'll stay put in Ypsi thank you.

Many people seem to find they won't need another motel room for three to five years after checking into Harmony House.

Sat, Dec 29, 2012 : 3:51 a.m.

The Harmony House. If you check in there's a good chance you might not check out.
