67-year-old man hits friend in head with baseball bat, Ann Arbor police say
A 67-year-old man hit his 62-year-old friend in the head with a baseball bat Friday after his friend refused to leave his home, Ann Arbor police said.
So far, no charges have been filed as detectives continue to investigate, police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said.
Police said the 67-year-old man asked his friend to leave his home in the 1100 block of Packard Street at 11:50 p.m. Friday, but his friend refused. Police said the man grabbed a baseball bat and hit his friend with it multiple times in the head and shoulders.
The victim had a large bump on the left side of his head and was bleeding, Bush said. He was taken to University of Michigan Hospital for treatment. The 67-year-old man, who had a cut on his forehead, told police that his friend hit him with the bat, Bush said.
Anyone with information can call the police department's tip line at (734) 794-6939.

I'm in my sixties and have never owned a baseball bat. I do, however, own a Glock. I sometimes think there's something to the idea about old men being a bit crazy. I once had a friend who, when I asked why he was carrying a gun during his visit, replied to me: "That's in case you try to prevent me from leaving."

People who hit other people with a bat, should go to jail. In this case, the old grumpy guys should have to sit in the corner for twenty minutes.

So, according to the story they hit each other with the bat. It looks like this contest went a full inning.

You simply dial 911 and tell them that you have a person in your home who refuses to leave.

Lola, it is an emergency and those types of calls are routine. That the man was described as a "friend" is moot. Someone who won't leave a residence or business is easily perceived as a threat. The situation can quickly escalate, as it did in this case. It is much better for the police to remove the individual.

I hardly think that constitutes a 911 emergency. The man was a friend not an intruder. Even calling the regular police line would be a stretch in this case.

Let's see...late Friday, Texas was about to lose game 7 of the World Series, a baseball bat was invoIved...I'll wager everything that the 67-year-old- was the Texas Rangers fan, Alex!
