A thief or thieves stole items from four homes and attempted to break into two others in incidents reported Sunday in Ypsilanti, police said.

Ypsilanti police were first dispatched at 12:30 a.m. to the 200 block of South Grove Street to investigate a home invasion attempt. Deputies said there was damage to the door, but no one got into the residence.

At 2 p.m., police were called to 600 block of East Forest Avenue, where an air compressor was stolen from an unlocked garage during the past week.

At 3 p.m., a resident reported the larceny of a small amount of jewelry at a home in the 400 block of Olive Street.

A resident then reported an attempted home invasion in the 500 block of Davis Street at 8:20 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect kicked in the door and ran once an alarm was set off. There was nothing taken.

Breaking into a home or garage is one thing, going in through an un-locked door is another. What is so hard about locking them damn doors??
