80-year-old woman scares intruder away from Ann Arbor home
A woman reported to Ann Arbor police Sunday morning that someone broke into her home in the 500 block of East Madison Street while she was inside, police said.
The 80-year-old woman was sitting in her living room about 5:40 a.m., police said, when she looked over her shoulder and saw someone standing near her television.
She yelled, prompting the intruder to run out the back door, police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said. Bush said the woman's purse and wallet were taken. The victim did not have a detailed description of the intruder.
Anyone with information can call the police department's tip line at (734) 794-6939.

Thank goodness she was not harmed in anyway. Seems to be the way of those who are the lowest of lowest.

Are you sure that it's the 500 block of EAST Madison, not West Madison? That block is just West Quad and South Quad. I don't think there are any 80 year old ladies living there.

YIKES! I am not 80 yet, but it would have certainly been a shocker to me. This story might force me to sit in the living room with a hand gun at my side. Sorry to hear her purse and wallet were taken, (she must have a good yell) for the intruder to run out of the house. Bless her heart, it could have been worse.

Good idea, I do. After all criminals don't usually give you a time out to arm yourself, do they? It goes on when I wake up and comes off when I go to bed. And my fire extinguishers while not on body are similarly within reach.

I can't even imagine how frightened I would be to find an intruder inside my house while I was there too. That poor woman! I am glad that it turned out ok though and that she wasn't harmed.
