Man charged with assaulting unconscious man outside Ann Arbor bar

By Lee Higgins

An Ann Arbor man has been criminally charged with punching an unconscious man in the head during an argument outside a South University Avenue bar in October, Ann Arbor police Det. Dave Monroe said.

Bryan Mitchell Fisher, 28, is charged with assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder and aggravated assault, Washtenaw County court records show.

He was arraigned Wednesday in 15th District Court and has been released on a personal recognizance bond, Monroe said.

According to Monroe, Fisher punched the victim at least five times on Oct. 9 outside Good Time Charley's, where people were watching the Michigan-Michigan State football game. A dispute began inside the bar and continued outside and involved about four people, Monroe said.

The victim received stitches for two cuts to his head, and another man's nose was injured during the incident, Monroe said. Fisher told police he was pushed at one point, Monroe said.

Fisher is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 8.

@Atticus F: "Let me re-phrase Andrew...I'm glad they caught the guy they suspected of doing this, hopefully they got the right person. Someone who would do something like that could be a danger to others." Thank you.

Too bad you can't also recycle the man.

It should probably read 'That he punched an unconcious man after an argument'...As in the argument led to a fight, which led to a person being hit while unconcious.

Not much different than the guy arguing with and beating up a parrot on Pauline a little while back.

An Ann Arbor man has been criminally charged with punching an "unconscious man" in the head during an argument outside a South University Avenue bar in October, Ann Arbor police Det. Dave Monroe said. This particular reporter deletes every comment I leave. This will be gone very quickly. I want to know HOW an "Ann Arbor man has been criminally charged with punching an "unconscious man" in the head during an argument outside a South University Avenue bar?

I can relate to the story as told. Many on these threads seem both argumentative and unconscious.

Hopefully the victim has regained consciousness by this point. The offender is going to get his just deserts in a major way. Assault w/ Intent to do Great Bodily Harm is a serious felony. Throw in the separate Aggravated Assault charge and this moron could easily be facing 10 years.

How does one punch an unconscious man during an argument? Kind of a one sided argument if one of the people is not awake.

Not sure what is difficult to understand. A person argues with and hits someone until that person is unconcious and then continues to hit him.

I'm also confused as to how and why he was assaulting and (especially) arguing with an unconscious man. Can ann arbor.com clarify?

So it's been proven that the man was already unconscious when he was assaulted? @Atticus: ignorance of the presumption of innocence is particularly amusing when coming from someone who chose your pseudonym.

Yes, I was going to make a similar comment. Whoever wrote (and "edited") that first sentence needs to be summarily fired.

He argued with an assaulted a guy who was already unconscious? That doesn't really make sense...
