Ann Arbor man, 64, charged in robbery of Main Street Party Store

By Lee Higgins

A 64-year-old Ann Arbor man was arrested at his home Monday on robbery charges after investigators say he robbed the Main Street Party Store on Nov. 21.

Police are expected to release the man's name after his arraignment, Ann Arbor police Lt. Mark St. Amour said.

The man is accused of walking into the North Main Street store at 6:15 p.m., implying he had a handgun and demanding money from a male clerk, police said.

According to police, he left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No further information was immediately available.

"I guess senior citizens really are staying more active these days." More like a senior citizen retirement plan in action.

@Ricebrnr: "However the difference is I only do that in reponse vs your actively questioning every Tom Dick and Harry all all sorts of subject matter with focus on criminal accusations." I'm not sure what you mean.

@RJA: "Shouldn't a 15 year old boy be in school at 1 p.m. on a Tuesday? Just asking.........." What's this in response to?

However the difference is I only do that in reponse vs your actively questioning every Tom Dick and Harry all all sorts of subject matter with focus on criminal accusations. My calling is to raise awareness and correct self defense and gun issues unless otherwise challenged to debate.

"Your words; "rather than rushing to judgment the moment someone's arrested?", would imply rushing to judgment of what or whom then?" The situation. I seem to have misinterpreted what you were saying, though, and for that I apologize. I agree that more information is always good, I just think that the idea that we should be able to know everything about a crime right away is undermining the legitimate fact-finding process. I've been trying to get more information mainly when the information provided is extremely one-sided. That doesn't seem to be the situation here: if anything, they're holding off on providing some of the allegations when there isn't anything to counter those allegations with. But you're correct that I was too hasty to criticize after some of our previous discussions. Although "I'd really recommend that you spend less of your time parsing and interpreting other people's words for them" could just as well apply to you. :)

Your words; "rather than rushing to judgment the moment someone's arrested?", would imply rushing to judgment of what or whom then? I asked a logical question regarding how and why this person was singled out for arrest, something YOU usually are doing. Asking for more information is not "indicative of the idea that we should know everything about this case right away" but a call for either better reporting or follow up reporting, which is also something I've seen you do. I'd really recommend that you spend less of your time parsing and interpreting other people's words for them.

@Ricebrnr: "Funny there's no judgement of the accused in my comment. The only judgement you could infer is of shoddy reporting." Not really. It's indicative of the idea that we should know everything about this case right away. I never said that you were judging the accused, I said you were attempting to rush to judgment. That's pretty well substantiated by your original comment. @JJ: "Now, what's up with this nutcase 64 year old?" Why do you call him a nutcase? Because he did the unthinkable and got arrested? Or because he allegedly robbed a store? @silverwings: "Wow, this on top of the Ypsi senior citizen who was arrested in the Royal Oak cellphone store robbery a few weeks back. I guess senior citizens really are staying more active these days." The fact that two senior citizens got arrested shows that they're "staying more active"? I'd say that it shows they're getting arrested. Is that the type of activity you meant? Since, of course, they haven't been shown to have done anything wrong.

Funny there's no judgement of the accused in my comment. The only judgement you could infer is of shoddy reporting. Perhaps you should stop judging other reader's comments?

Perhaps more facts will become available if one is patient, rather than rushing to judgment the moment someone's arrested?
