Ann Arbor man in custody for Sunday night sexual assault

By Kyle Feldscher

A 53-year-old Ann Arbor man was placed in custody on suspicion of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in an incident from Sunday night, according to Ann Arbor police.

Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said the victim told police the assault took place at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday in an apartment in the 1800 block of Pauline Boulevard.

The incident was reported to police later on Sunday, Bush said.

A 23-year-old Ann Arbor man made the report, Bush said. He and the 53-year-old man are known to each other, Bush said.

Police are not releasing more information related to the incident, Bush said. Unclear early Monday is whether the suspect is scheduled to be arraigned.

Sexual and domestic abuse crimes against men are rarely reported to police. Good for the 23 year-old man to have the courage to do so.

There should be no snarky comments about this. The sex of the two people involved has nothing to do with this. An alleged assault took place and was reported. "nuff said.

Malorie, There was no speculation. I questioned a comment. My question was deleted. The comment I was questioning was later deleted. Your comment is out of context. It does not accurately address my deleted question nor the deleted comment (which did not speculate).

a2citizen...you have never been allowed to speculate as to what happened during ANY criminal case, let alone a sexual assault. One of a2.com's few extremely justified rules. Some of you people forget this is a local news site, and many people involved in the cases READ YOUR COMMENTS. Some of you can be so hurtful and careless; I'm glad the moderators are quick to find you.

Agreed, the sex of the two people does not matter. But it opens the possibility of a certain type of assault that is quite common in male-on-male attacks. The problem is a2.com deletes your comment if you refer to this type of assault.

Can this CSC 1st degree be related to the 06/14 and 06/24 reports? Does anyone have any info?

I do, djm. They are unrelated. I spoke with police about the 6/14 assault yesterday and they had no information to provide to me; the victim did not cooperate with police and they are investigating whether the assault really happened. The circumstances of that incident are unclear at this point.

a2.com, I understand why you deleted my comment. However, do you know that this is not the case? If you don't know for sure then keep an open mind. I stand a pretty good chance of being correct.

a2citizen, why would i want to keep an open mind as to what "type" of assault took place. The fact is that an assault took place, and could care less if you are "correct".

Clearly you do not understand. Why would you even speculate as to things like that? If it were a woman who were assaulted by a man, would you start speculating as to what specific sex acts took place? AA.com has never allowed commenters to make unsubstantiated and libelous claims about crime victims, especially victims of sex assault. The only reason I can see for why you and others are so obsessed with what went on is that either you want to make light of the situation in a juvenile way or you just want to twist it to denigrate homosexuals.
