Ann Arbor police investigate burglary at Hill Street apartment

Two flat-screen televisions, a video game system and other items were taken during a burglary at a Hill Street apartment Wednesday or Thursday, Ann Arbor police said.

An officer was patroling the area and discovered the break-in about 12:05 p.m. Thursday, a police report said.

Someone entered through an unlocked window, according to the report.

Four people live at the home.

  • Revised summary -- As told to the Ann Arbor Police, a student was walking along the south side of Monroe Street when an unknown male came from behind him and struck him on the left side of his head with a baseball bat. The student fell and the unknown male demanded the student's backpack. When the student hesitated, the male struck the student with the bat several times before he grabbed the backpack, jumped into the backseat of a nearby red sedan and fled.

  • As told to the Ann Arbor Police, a student was walking along the south side of Monroe Street when a red car pulled next to him. An unknown male exited the passenger side of the vehicle with a baseball bat and demanded the student's backpack. When the student hesitated, the male struck the student in the back of the head with the bat before grabbing the backpack, jumping into the car and fleeing.
