By Kyle Feldscher

Ann Arbor police are investigating two assaults reported over the weekend, including one incident where two suspects sucker punched a man before fleeing the area.

That incident came at 10:44 p.m. Saturday at East University Avenue and Hill Street, said Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush. A 22-year-old Kalamazoo man reported he was punched in the back of the head five times by two men.

The men then ran from the area, Bush said. The first man was described as white, 6-feet-2 inches tall, 190 pounds. The second man was 6-feet tall, 240 pounds and about 20 years old.

The second assault came at 2:48 a.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of Sandalwood Circle. A 24-year-old man and a 34-year-old man reported getting into a fight. The two men were friends, Bush said.

Both men suffered minor injuries, Bush said.

Anyone with information on the first assault is encouraged to call the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).

Almost all such trouble happens late at night. One way to be safe: be home, in the house, by about 8:30 or 9:00 p.m....

In fact, some of the most intense fights are between those who we're closest to.
