Cash, gun stolen during Ann Arbor home invasion
Cash and a pistol were stolen from an Ann Arbor home during a break-in Wednesday morning after the suspect forced open a garage door.
Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said the 60-year-old woman and 68-year-old man who live at the home in the 3100 block of Baylis Drive left the house from 9:30 a.m. until noon. They returned to find a drawer in the home’s TV cabinet open and a rear door unlocked.
Upon further investigation, the couple realized the gun and an unknown amount of cash had been stolen. The intruder pried open the home’s garage door to enter, Bush said.
There was no suspect information to release Thursday and police continue to investigate.
Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 SPEAK UP (773-2587).

And people wonder where the illegal weapons on our streets come from. Actually, to correct myself it's not even from theft, I just researched it a bit and found that most illegal guns are initially purchased legally. I would like a justification for this from any of the people on here that just loooove their guns.

Y'all are simply brainwashed (allegedly). But I suppose it's worth it to some for that huge and intimidating (alleged) representation of etc. that hangs about the waist. I bet it makes people feel very safe. And don't give me that constitution crud, they didn't plan for 30 round clips and assault rifles. I mean look at the phrase assault rifle, come on! You really want to say you own one of those things? or even close?

It's a lot easier to justify owning a firearms, being in the Constitution, than it is to justify free birth control.

Please "justify" why you should be allowed to have a car? Lots of people do bad things with them. Today's headlines notwithstanding there were 3 people in our area killed in the past couple weeks. How many by firearms? If everyone could restrict just one thing they didn't like (or know anything about) pretty soon we'd all have nothing.

Yes they are purchased legally ( Duh ) someone steals them and then they become illegal. And guess what ? its my right to own them so I don't need ANY justification .

And your cash too, right? Because just locking your doors doesn't count apparently. Better add TVs, laptops etc etc to that list too while you are at it.

This is a good reminder to lock up your guns when you're not home.

Totally predictable comment. The gun was in the house, and the house was locked, therefore the guns were locked, as were any stereo, computer, jewelry, and hair driers.

What do our legislators think happens when thousands of prisoners are released at the same time?

Life in West Ypsilanti... I would be curious to see the stats on break-ins for this year, are there more than ever or is it steady, and I am just reading the news more? It seems like property crimes are up.

"the suspect forced open a garage door" I guess we're past the crimes of opportunity where thieves just look for unlocked doors.
